crazy week

well it was an insane week primarily spent battling health issues. they are by no means resolved, but hopefully i'm headed in the right direction. thanks to all my friends and family for the well wishes + prayers.
i wasn't able to get any art time in 'til this weekend. i made 2 altered cd's for an upcoming swap (that might be cancelled due to host health issues!), and i made my postcard for this week's challenge, the theme is Mona Art. i love altering Mona Lisa, and i'm happy with this card.

Here are two postcards + one "house" I made this weekend. The house, about 4x6, is for a house create-a-theme swap at mailartworld.com. The theme I'm making is "zetti."
The fairy postcard is for a woman at flickr, and the showgirl is for this week's postcard challenge.

Life is a Circus

Here is the postcard I made yesterday. It's a fun one, I think!

Wednesday Morning

Well I decided I just had to add some color to the postcard I made the other day, so I gave the women a touch of red. I think it was a good move.

Sunday Postcard Challenge

This postcard was made for the Sunday postcard challenge (see link @ right). This week's theme is women.

postcards

Roc, whom you know if you read this regularly, has once again roped me into another ongoing project. This time it's postcards. These will be exchanged with others Roc ropes in. They will be sent thru the mail system as is, for additional altering (not to mention some occasionally bending and mashing!).
The postcards are 4x6. My first one is a hand-drawn whimsical angel:

Waves of the Sea

I'm participating in a "House Beautiful CAT (create-a-theme)" swap at mailartworld.com. The theme of houses I'm creating is "zetti," an art form developed by Teesha Moore. This is my first house for the swap. It will go to Wanda, who loves the beach and the sea. The house is about 4x6," and is mixed media: paper layering, collage images, rubberstamping, hand-drawn elements, + various emebellishments. The circle under the starfish is pop-dotted on to add dimension.
The quote is by Jill Davis.

Day and Night

I recently completed a mixed media landscape online workshop taught by Karyn Gartel. These canvases are each 12x24". They were made with paper layering (scrapbook paper + vintage text) and acrylics.
For house numbers I used my husband's and my wedding date, 7-25-97, to add a personal touch to the paintings. I call them simply "Day" and "Night."
This was my 2nd workshop with Karyn. She's a great teacher. I am in the middle of two more workshops with her, and I am signed up for another one that I'll start as soon as I finish at least one of the ones I'm in the middle of at the moment.
